Neurosurgery for brain tumors in infants
1109 10:45-11:00
Interim Meeting of AASPN/303A
Brain tumors among patients less than 2 years old are rare. Here we aim to describe the clinical presentation, enumerate the most common pathologies encountered, outline the diagnostic workup, and discuss the nuances in the neurosurgical management of infants with brain tumors. The importance of shared decision-making and multidisciplinary care of pediatric patients with brain tumors is emphasized, to prevent morbidity and mortality and improve long-term outcomes. This lecture was made possible through the David and Hazel Zuellig Professorial Chair grant.
